DERMA was an EU Interreg 2 Seas project that developed novel materials for the management of chronic wounds. The consortium was composed of the Universities of Brighton, Portsmouth and Gent, and French tech transfer agency Eurasante. This documentary - Biomaterials in Action - introduces the problem of chronic dermal ulcers, describes how DERMA intervened in this field, and reveals the results achieved. The film features interviews with internationally acclaimed clinicians and researchers and includes key industrial insight and CGI animations of the developed technologies.
The innovative PeRSo Hoods on BBC South Today on Tuesday, 19 January 2021. The hood has been developed by researchers at the University of Southampton and University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The hoods were supported by Wessex AHSN, to receive their CE Mark and to market, safely and meeting all standards required.
We've been researching and developing a standardised, evidence based approach to the spread and adoption of innovations in our region. We call this our 'spread and adoption model' – the model is constantly evolving, with a key output being a 'spread and adoption plan'.
This video is the combination of two webinars held in early March 2019 to introduce the first three components of our model and the spread and adoption planning template to colleagues from other AHSNs.

There are over 100,000 health apps already, but a perception of low quality is leading to low uptake by patients and health care professionals alike. NHS England, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and Public Health England have worked together to develop an App Endorsement Process, launched earlier this year.
